Suncor Energy is buying its Canadian compatriot Petro-Canada for 19.12bn

Deal still requires the approval of both the shareholders, will create Canada's biggest oil firm.

These companies are among the largest operators in Canada's oil sands industry and the merger comes after the oil prices have fallen from last year's highs.

What will be the Canada's response over this? Is this merger is going to effect other major oil companies?
